Quote of the Day 24th April 2015

'A few countries, only a few, are driving growth: one is the USA, where growth is solid, anchored and where we foresee a 2015 that will be also a good year. And the UK where clearly growth is improving, the deficit has been reduced, and where the unemployment is going down."

"'Certainly from a global perspective this is exactly the sort of result that we would like to see: more growth, less unemployment, a growth that is more inclusive, that is better shared, and a growth that is also sustainable and more balanced."

IMF chief Christine Lagarde praising the growth of the UK economy and the coalition government's management of the economy. She also said that other countries should follow Britain's example and that

'The UK is leading in a very eloquent and convincing way in the European Union.'

I don't believe in a "little Europe" though I would certainly like to see a smaller EU bureaucracy, which is not the same thing.

"Little Europe" - basically its a way of pointing out that the EU is very "isolationist".

You used to hear pro EU people referring to those wishing to leave the EU as "Little Englanders" its a way of pointing out that we wish to take our place on the global stage, and take back our seats at the "top tables" like UNICE, rather than being "represented" by the EU, and isolated in "Little Europe".

I would like to trade with the EU and keeping the single market is the way forward in my opinion, but we dont need the political EU for that bit We only need EFTA, and I would recommend the EEA too.

thus we sidestep any argument about the economics, about losing trade, we sidestep "x number of jobs", we sidestep any fears about the disruption to markets.

We basically just turned the entire argument around, the Pro EU side are the Isolationists, small minded little europeans.

If that's how you define "little European" then I have certainly never been one.

It was more of an answer to Christine Lagarde, who is most certainly Pro EU

Oh I see, if the "you" was addressed to Christine Lagarde, then I suspect you are right about her being pro-EU.
