The only thing I can say here is now that It has been "decided" that we taxpayers are to provide a £97 million super-computer to the Met Office, just five years after having paid £33 million for another one, that the Met office will be able to produce a remotely accurate weather forecast for one day at some point within the next ten thousand years?

Let's just hope it's a bit more successful than some other recent large government IT projects have been.

But then again what is £1 billion costs in failed IT systems, even if we add in the £1.7 billion bill from the EU. I mean whats that?, whats it matter.

it is after all only 2 weeks borrowing for the current government, so its not like its important.

Well, it's a bit like the quote often attributed to Senator Everett Dirkson - “A billion here, a billion there, and pretty soon you’re talking real money”

(Though nobody has been able to nail down the quote and supposedly when asked Senator Dirkson said that a newspaper had misquoted him, but the quote "sounded so good that he never bothered to deny it.")
